Donna Nalewaja

Donna Lou Nalewaja, (Nahl-ah-why'-uh) (born October 8, 1939, in Winterset, Iowa) is a North Dakota politician and real estate broker who ran under Leon L. Mallberg for Lieutenant Governor of North Dakota in 1988 as a Republican, and for the North Dakota United States Senate in 1998 against incumbent Byron Dorgan. Nalewaja also served in the North Dakota House of Representatives for Fargo's district 45 for 4 years, and in the North Dakota Senate for 12 years.

Nalewaja has the distinction of being the only female ever to run for one of North Dakota's United States Senate Seats on a major party ticket. Nalewaja is married to John, and has four children.[1]
